Abstract
内容記述タイプ Other
内容記述 After the attack against Iraq, we find ourselves in the era of the "New war". Using high-tech weapons results in decrease of deaths among the neocolonial powers. Consequently, they are no longer paying any attention to women's fertility as the availability of military manpower, nor to the compulsory recruitment of women behind the battlefront. They just expect every woman to be an obedient soldier in information/ ideological warfare, which is carried out in our daily media. In order to evoke people's condemnation of "the sudden illegitimate attacks by terrorists", the powers emphasize we're still in our peaceful home life prior to the declaration of war. So, we hardly realize that everyone of us is already forced to fight in the battlefront of the "New war", which is woven into our daily life like a tapestry or a mosaic picture.
I want to point out that it is especially the poor, immigrant, or other minority groups who must become the actual armed soldiers with real weapons and who trade their own lives in return for the acquisition or recovery of their civil rights. Such socially or economically "castrated" soldiers sometimes violently flaunt their barbaric virility in order to compensate for their emasculation. Today, in the neoliberal economy of the neocolonial powers, there is a widening gap between minority and non-minority groups, so that more "socially castrated" soldiers, including for example the female abuser of Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib, are tempted to flaunt their "masculinity" more violently than ever. Additionally, the number of nonmilitary male fringe-laborers, like part-time workers in nursing care, are increasing in neoliberal social systems, and some of them also act violently to compensate for their emasculation.
Therefore, I would like to conclude that the reorganized "masculine" violence by both males and females maintains and develops the neocolonial powers in the era of the "New war". It is therefore necessary to discuss valid countermeasures against this reorganization of masculinity.
