This study aims to distinguish the process of formation and changes of cities, referring to their historical backgrounds, which includes activities and changes of rulers. Harbin and Dalian of China, Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk and Vladivostok of Russia are the cities mainly investigated for this research. This paper is fundamental research based on fieldworks done from 1997.
