At the· example of some notions of grammar, theoretical as well as practical problems will be discussed rather programmatically in order to avoid terminological confusion. It will be argued that evolving a theory of a certain object means explaining it in some way by way of building a model based on the data from the object in question in the sense that a object phenomenon can only be recognized empirically through mental perception.
