Continuous observations of cosmic ray neutron intensity using the IGY-type neutron monitor are being carried out since August 1970 in Morioka. In this paper, correlation coefficients between the neutron intensities in Morioka and Tokyo-Itabashi during a solar rotation interval are calculated using the neutron data obtained during the period 1971-1974 in Morioka and Tokyo-Itabashi. Dependences of the coefficients on geomagnetic activity and solar activity are studied and discussed in comparison with results from the cosmic ray data observed at the other cosmic ray stations. It is concluded that such correlations are closely related to the associated geomagnetic activity and solar activity. The time lag of cosmic ray modulation due to solar activity which amounts to approximately one year is suggested for the period 1972-1974. and it may be significantly changeable from year to year. |
