| 内容記述 | The present paper will treat some problems of word order, one of the major typological parameters,' with particular reference· to German, Not only German itself, but also several other Germanic languages, e.g. · Dutch etc. , raise considerable difficulties to the "Basic Order Typology", proposed by GREENBERG (1963), in determining the basic word order of their major constituents: Due to the rich existence of remarkable construction types such as "bracement" etc., one would have to assume at least two "Basic Order"· If we wish to explain their function in a plausible way along the idea of one "Basic Order" per language, then we must seek for an organizing principle getting the divergence into one line. By proposing the "finite" verb as the sentence-constructing centre, it will de argued that the modificational relation may, but not must, · be a typological parameter. of a natural language independent of the . basic word order contrary to the prevailing opinion, Furthermore, it should be shown that ,certain constructions unexplainable in the frame of existing theories or rather contradictory to those can easily be · explicated if their functional status is clarified as yielding typological parameters following a higher organizing principle. | |||||||
