(ネグレリアフォーレリ；ヒトの脳に侵入することがある病原性アメーバ）のmtDNA(ミトコンドリアDNA;本生物種の場合，約50000塩基の環状DNA)の塩基配列のうち3件について，汎用のワープロソフトとネット上のフリーソフトで解析したその結果， これらのmtDNAのAT含量は74.8%であり， 相互によく似ていることが分かった． また， 約400 塩基のほぼ同じ配列が2回反復している領域が在ることが分かった． 同様の反復配列は近縁種のN.lovan iensisとN.gruberi (ネグレリアロバニエンシスとネグレリアグルベリ； いずれもヒトに病原性がないとされる） のmtDNAにはみられなかった． このような解析はネット環境が整っていれば比較的容易に実施できるため， 高校の学習に取り入れ生徒の学習意欲の向上に役立つかもしれない． 一方， この解析の過程で見出した反復配列はN.fowleriの近縁種にはみられないため，
