| 内容記述 | Not a few researchers have argued over the location of the Koromogawa gate. This paper summarizes the various theories about the Koromogawa gate, points out the problems that exist in them, and presents the writer’s opinion on the location of the Koromogawa gate. Mutsu Waki（陸奥話記） said, “the Koromogawa gate is originally narrow and steep, and its solidity surpassed that of Mt. Xiao and the Hangu gate. If one soldier defends this steep place, even with 10,000 soldiers, nobody can pass.” Therefore, this paper introduces the ruins of the Hangu gate as a comparison for the Koromogawa gate, and explains how an impregnable gate was built by using steep terrain. Knowing the general location of gates, we reread the description of the Koromogawa gate, and consider the location of Mt. Kan, Koromogawa and Okudaido that was a main road at that time. In this way, it will be clear where the Koromogawa gate was established. |
