'Golden Delicious' and 'Fuji' from June to July on fruit growth and quality were studied. Anode water (pH 2.6, ORP+1000 mV) increased russeting of the skin on both cultivars, however, spray of anode water and cathode water alternately (pH 9.3, ORP-250 mV) reduced it. The results indicated that the effect of anode water persisted for about one week. It was not clear whether the main cause of russeting by anode water was attributable to the low pH or ORP.
