Most of affected chickens showed poor growth, lameness and paralysis. Macroscopically, 7 chickens had abscesses at 6th thoracic vertebrae (11.5%). Histopathologically, necrotizing purulent granulomatous osteomyelitis and arthritis with gram-negative bacilli was observed in the affected vertebra. Many cases showed a separation of articular cartilage at the fifth. sixth and seventh thoracic vertebrae except for cases of thoracic spondylopathy, and two cases had bacterial clumps.
