In this method, the line is decomposed into L-12-stage merge lines in which the parameter of assembly stages takes into account the effect of part flow in the downstream or upstream stages ; thus, lines with any number of assembly and machining stages can be analyzed. From the comparison between the approximation solutions and the Markov or simulation solutions, it appears that the error is very small.
