Removal and destruction of under-ground organs of weeds and shrubs by the ground treatment provided effects during the establishment of Quercus serrata seedlings; keeping the coverage of weeds and shrubs low at the first year after the treatment and delaying or repressing the active reflush of bamboo grasses and shrubs from under-ground organs at the following years. The ground treatment also raised the survival ratio of Quercus serrata seedlings significantly and promoted their growth at various places of the regeneration site: the area dominated by Quercus serrata seedlings was obviously enlarged.
